Ruger Mini-14 “OHP” Special Order version of the GB model (Google it)
In 1979, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol special-ordered 1300 OHP-marked Mini-14s from Ruger. They have four special order features:
1. longer buttstock
2. side-mounted sling set-up like that on an M-1 Carbine with upper swivel on the side of the gas block
3. a red rubber Ruger-logo recoil pad
4. the letters “OHP” are stamped on the receiver top.
4 1/2. The last three digits of the serial number are stamped on the bottom of the pistol grip, but this may have been done in Oklahoma. Special markings for government agency ownership are common on Rugers but special build features like this stock are not. The original Ruger sling and one five-shot mag are included, but the 20-round mag is just there for the pictures. #181-49xxx. $1400
