my papa is looking to buy me a Smith and Wesson M&P 380 Shield EZ. But the issue is, he has a Texas ID (He’s visiting from texas right now). is there anywhere he could buy this gun for me? (I’m 18, and the gun will be for taking to the range and self defense)

All firearms would require a background check during which he would be asked if he was purchasing the firearm for someone else. If he answer yes this is a straw purchase and illegal if he answers no he is lying on the federal form and this is also illegal.

The part about him only having a TX ID is going to be the issue.
also, to add to Zach's points...handguns arent legal for purchasers under 21 in CO. just go buy a shotgun or rifle for now not worth the atf/cbi trouble for you or ur pop
